Ok this is an odd one. Installed a new heat pump and heating is cooling and cooling is heating. Installed a new control board and copied everything over so that connections were all in the same place and using the heat pump controls with the jumper in place it’s doing the reverse of what’s it’s meant to. What would cause this?

Heat pump reversing (4 way) valve wired incorrectly or incorrect reversing valve. When the reversing valve is powered it shifts in one direction and when it is not powered it shifts in the other direction. The valves could be either powered for heating or powered for cooling, depending on the manufacturer. In residential home heat pumps most powered the valve for cooling, but Rheem and Rudd powered the valve for heating. So likely you have incorrect low voltage connections at the heat pump wiring terminal (automation?) rather than an incorrect reversing valve or incorrect wiring internal to the heat pump.
