How to unclog a line???

Is the skimmer door stuck partially closed, where it lets the skimmer fill with water until the pump starts and then the skimmer runs dry?

We thought we had a suction side leak on the skimmer line because the pump would not prime if the skimmer line was open, but would when only the main drain was open. The skimmer door had a small piece of debris stuck in it that caused the door to be stuck in the almost closed position. This allowed the skimmer to stay full of water when the pump was off, so it wasn't noticed at first that the skimmer was running dry.

I didn't read the entire post, so this may have been discussed, but it may be worth checking.

Well, I finally made it home from the wedding, snaked the line once more, placed the DrainJet in the pump, and out popped a pecan...outer husk and all!!!
Thank you all for all the help and guidance! now, I get to delve in to the chemical side of this forum, and get everything evened out for the summer!!!

Again, THANK YOU ALL!!!

Attaboy & good job describing the symptoms..

I figured it was gonna be a pine cone or acorns, but that’s my New England mind..

ut,

Glad you were able to get it fixed!!!! Just to be clear the pecan was in the line between the Skimmer and the pump???

Thanks,

Jim R.

It appeared to be lodged in the first bend beyond the skimmer. It was far enough back that I was unable to feel it with my fingers. I let out the full 25' of snake line, and it felt as though it had hit another elbow, so I gave it a few spins, "jabbed" at the stopage, and after a few minutes pulled it out and tried the DrainJet again. Sucker was just jammed in there! Hey, now I own a DrainJet!
