Hi,
i add 7PPM(1.3 lt) of liquid chlorine 12% every day with CYA at 60% and ph at 7.4 ,(4-5 people swimm and play in the pool and a lot of organic fall in the pool every day ) and in the morning FC level is 0PPM ,tropical hot costarica weather.
my pool is 1 year old and i never did a slam , the water before adding chlorine is NOT green or very cloudy and after adding chlorine seems clear and inviting but from 5-7 PPM to 0PPM in 24 hours i think i have a problem of algae......my pool run with a solar pump (Lorents) no inverter no AC ..so i can't run it for 24/7 (24/7 mean all day long for 1 week ?) my pump run only 11 hours /day
how can i SLAM the pool if the pump at night doesn't work?
do you think i have an algae problem serious enough to SLAM ?

You can follow the SLAM Process with only pumping the water at night. It will just take a lot longer to clear the pool of debris.

If you have cloudy water, and your FC consumption is that high, I would suggest you follow the SLAM Process for a few days and see what happens.

Can you test FC up to 24 ppm?

Also, what is your CYA level? Do you have a test kit to test it?

Ok i 'll try the overnight test ..... the pump run ONLY during day time so from 6am to 5 pm, so if i don't pass the overnight test i have to slam? what do you mean for a few days? 3 days?
I finished my reagent 0871 a week ago and i can't get any ,so i can't test the FClevel till 24ppm ,but the math tell me that i'll add 5liters of 12% liquid chlorine to slam my 20.000lt pool in the morning and to keep adding chlorine during the day to keep the slam levels at 30ppm but before going to sleep at night i brush the pool and how much chlorine should i add to keep a decent level at night considering that the pump doesn't work ?

brush the pool before take water sample?why?
To mix the pool. That is one reason a SLAM includes running the pump over night.

Your process will be difficult without the ability to test. If you do SLAM without the ability to test, we will recommend no one swim during that time.

OK no one will swimm,
How many days do you recommend to slam the pool considering the pump doesn't work at night but my pool is even green or cloudy?
5lt of 12% chlorine liquid in the morning to start the slam will give me 30ppm FC level, How much shlould i add at night to keep the levels high?

Without testing it is all a guess.

What type of pool is this? Vinyl liner, plaster, etc?

You said the pool was cloudy. It is not? You can see a coin on the bottom of the pool and call heads or tails on it?

Is a Tile pool ,
no i didn't say my pool is cloudy,is NOT cloudy...is clear ,loss of 7ppm of chlorine every day
i test the water with k2006 ,but i run out of reagent so now i can test only with k1001
The water looks good ,i just don't know if is the case to slam or not ,FClevel just go down very fast
we do a lot of volley in the pool ,4 people every day , is very hot so may be is normal tha FC level go down so fast during the day and night.
i have a robot that clean the pool
i tell you tomorrow my overnight test and than we talk again

If you have a lot of bathers, that may be what your FC load is. I would suggest you add chlorine at 10AM and 4 pm. Try 4 ppm FC worth at each time and see how it goes. See if you can measure some TC in the morning with your K1000 using that regimen.
