My pool's multiport valve is stuck on filter and refuses to switch between functions.
How do I open this multiport valve (pic attached).
Do I first need to remove the handle or should the entire body come out at once ?

Yes, with the system off, simply remove the screws/bolts securing the top of the valve to the body. The entire top part should come off from the base. Make sure to remember what position the valve was in when you removed it so everything gores back the same way. A common problem inside is the "spider gasket" or "wagon wheel" gasket. You will also find an O-ring around the shaft, all of which require lube. So when you take it apart to inspect it, make sure to clean and lube everything really well before reassembly. Hope that helps.

The screw area at 11oclock is molded differently, so you won’t install wrong way. Blast the valve handle with a hose for starters, I’m always amazed at the junk that comes out.. then if need be proceed with the tear down.

You may want to check the local availability of a new spider gasket before you tear down. I'd hate for you to find a destroyed gasket, then have to wait for one to ship.
