I have my taylor test kit, the kit is about 2 yrs old. When I test for ph the color doesnt match anything on the color chart window very close...to me it is darker than the 8.2. When I use the new test strips that came with my swg it registers 7.2. Which should i believe?

Go with the drop test for sure. Test strips aren't worth the paper they're made on. If your R-0014 reagent was kept inside in a cool/dark place, it should still be pretty good. If it's reading dark purple above 8.2, definitely start dosing with muriatic acid to lower back into the mid-7 range. Use the Poolmath calculator to help you with the right amount. Go in stages if it feels better, but you need it below 8.0 for sure.

Thankyou...I used pool math and added some acid...TA is finally down to 90 and PH looks like about 7.4 I wish there was a drop test for PH?
