So we are hopefully a few weeks away from plaster. I asked our PB if they had all the equipment and they told me that they have it all except the EZ Touch controller because those are unavailable. They cannot really give me an idea when they will be available. I am trying to decide if I should just ask them to deduct this fro the final draw and try to get it added later or just let it go and hope it gets done at some point. Anyone else experiencing this and what did you do?

I wouldn't include it on the final draw, especially without any guarantee on delivery date and install. From experience, once a contractor is paid in full and moved on, chances of getting their attention again is going to be futile and very frustrating.

Yes that is what I am worried about but also kind of think it is not a big enough exclusion that they will care to come back and finish it regardless so I think I am going to end up having to get this done on my own later. I am assuming it is not a huge deal to add later but not sure it was all done at the same time on our last pool.

Matt,

What specific EasyTouch are you looking for???

I assume you will not be getting an SVRS pump this time around???

Thanks,

Jim R.
This is the equipment details in the contract.

Pool equipment package includes Intelliconnect digital controller with smartphone connection, Clean and

Clear cartridge filter, Fusion Nature 2 + chlorine system, variable speed Intelliflo pump, Racer LS cleaner

Equipment

$346.53 1 Upsize filter to 520

$907.97 1 Pentair IC-40 salt system (price reflects removal of Fusion system)

$909.81 1 LED color lighted bubbler fountain

-$95.59 1 Change cleaner type to robotic Prowler 920 model

Matt,

I would never recommend the IntelliConnect. (Not to be confused with the new IntelliCenter...)

Do you plan to go with saltwater or not??

It makes a difference in the EasyTouch (Or IntelliCenter) that you need.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes we are not getting the IntelliConnect last item on the list above is what we upgraded to. Yes it will be SWG.

Oh, I agree there! Once these subs get off on other full build projects, they need much more than that to break off and come back out. My Pentair sub was going to come back and sell me a less expensive install to remote my ET, but never could get him to respond afterwards.

Matt,

You really don't want the EasyTouch "Lite" as they have only 4 possible schedules, no load center for your breaker and don't come with a build in SWCG system.

Tell me how big your new pool will be and if you will have a spa or not.

Thanks,

Jim R.

It is 38'x16' depth 3.5' to 7' and yes we have a spa. We have one bubbler on a tanning ledge no other features. I think this is what I had on my last pool not 100% though and the only issue I had was the app was glitchy.

Matt,

You might have had a "lite" version EasyTouch, but I doubt it.

Got any old pics of your equipment?

Did your old EasyTouch panel have any circuit breaker in it?

Looks like your new pool will be 20K or maybe 25K. Does that sound correct?

Thanks,

Jim R.

It looked exactly like this. It had little switches like this on the right which I thought were breakers but n ver had to mess with those.

Yes it’s right around 22k gallons.

Matt,

That is an EasyTouch lite. If that is what you want, then that is what you should get, but it is not what I'd want.

It has no load center, so all your breaker for the pool equipment will have to be in another sub panel or take up room in your house panel.
It has a very limited number of functions. Only 4 schedules, only two feature circuits, etc.
It does not have an internal Power Center and wiring for a SWCG system.

I suggest that you buy a real EasyTouch with load center, that comes with a SWCG system and IC40 salt cell and two actuators. To use your phone, you would still need to add ScreenLogic

Like this one... Pentair EasyTouch 4 System Pool and Spa w/IC40 Cell

Or go with the new IntelliCenter..

Come with two IntelliValves and IC40 salt cell The IntelliCenter comes with a built-in ScreenLogic like system.

I know it is easy for me to spend your money, but I learned a long time ago that you can cry once when you buy a good tool or cry every time you use a cheap tool.

Thanks,

Jim R.

@Jimrahbe Thanks for the info! The PB actually already installed a sub panel next to the equipment for us. I guess it’s just one of those things where I do not know what I’m missing. Just having 4 schedules didn’t bother me before and one of those were my racer which I will not need anymore. Its crazy this pool is costing us double what the last one did that was built in 2017 so have to cut some things out where we can! It’s looking like I’ll have to do this later on my own either way and maybe then I’ll want to spend some more money 😜
