How to Deal With Drain Full of Plaster?

My late father's house has been sold. The last time the finish was redone, the contractor got plaster in the main drain. My dad did not force them to repair it, and now the pool can't be drained in the usual way. Eventually, the buyers will need to have it drained so the drain line can be opened. What are the options? Is there a good portable pump made for this purpose?

The pool is 20 x 40 x 8.

Many pools do not have a functioning main drain and many new pools are now built without a main drain. It is better to drain a pool with an external pump. Either a small utility pump, or you can rent a larger capacity pump. That is safer then risking damaging the expensive pool pump.
