Posting here b/c I want to tackle the repair this weekend and need details Back story is 4 water line tiles and a chunk of mortar under my flagstone coping came off. When filled to the highest level possible, about 2" of the tile would be submerged. Guidance in the other forum said it's best to lower water but that I could run off main drain.
I'm in N. TX and we are already in the upper 90's. I have 2 skimmers on either end of the pool and what looks like to "drains" in the deepest end. I have no idea how to do what the poster suggested or even if it's possible with my pool.

How do you close off the skimmers so they won't run dry? It's safe to let the water evap down below the tiles. Just make sure you close off your skimmers at the point where they will run out of water. You don't want your pump running dry. Some skimmers are set low enough so they still have enough water to run right below the water line. You'll have to gauge it.
If you use the silicone just make sure you at least remove any loose old thinset from the wall. The bond is only going to be as good as what it's sticking too. I would probably put some of the silicone on the wall and on the tiles. That will give you the best bond strength vs just putting it on the back of the tiles.
