Hello.

I have a Hayward pH probe attached to my chlorinator. It is similar to sense and dispense, but fully integrated with the chlorinator.

Anyway, the Hayward manual says to clean the pH probe with a toothbrush and toothpaste. I doubt this method is appropriate, but I'm no expert.

Has anyone ever done this? This equipment cost me a few dollars, Should I risk destroying the pH probe with toothpaste?

Thanks

If that's what the manual says, that's what I would do. Think about it- if Muriatic Acid didn't burn everything off the probe, something unusual is probably warranted. <shrug> It says in the manual to use the toothbrush/paste on the reference junction.

I'm not sure what you mean by HCl burning the probe? The probe is connected before the chlorinator cell and the acid injector is after the cell, in fact the injector is the very last thing in the plumbing on the pad.
