How to avoid haze?

Bleach does not raise your pH. It is pH neutral through its life cycle.

Ah ok, I thought it did - either way, what will lower the ph if all those other things raise it?

Acid lowers pH. Or products that are acidic.

So what would introduce acid into the pool? Obviously acidic chemicals, but would an algae bloom for example?

Not algae. Trichlor, dichlor, dry acid, etc.

Interesting, so the only way the ph level drops is by manual intervention?

It can drop if the pool is covered for long periods as the carbon dioxide cannot get released. Rain can sometimes lower the pH. But typically, it takes an acidic product to lower the pH.
