How often to remove water from sump?

So, is there any benefit to keeping pools sump pit dry of ground water vs just keeping it below the pools water level? I can pump 50 gallons/day out of mine all summer long, but it will never rise above the level of the pool water if I don't pump it. I am assuming due to the pressure.

It doesn't need to be dry just below pool level with some margin. This is enough to keep the pool from floating.

Oh wow, I missed this response to my question. Sorry!!

The ground water is pretty high in my area and I do have irrigation. Even in the winter I pump water out of the pit on the regular. There is enough water pumped out of this pit to keep my 16x40 FG pool full all summer and water 20 arborvitae trees on a weekly basis, so long as we are not in a drought. I was mostly concerned as to whether or not having water surrounding the pool all the time would create any structural issues around my pool or for the concrete deck. I even brought a sample of this water to the lab and it tested clean to drink. I also test it for chlorine to make sure it's not coming from the pool itself. I've since started using a sump pump with a switch that discharges to underground plumbing for the winter to keep it empty, but I hate wasting good water in the summer so just put it back in the pool. I haven't had any issues with my levels being off and my water somehow stays softer than I'd like. Thanks

You simply cannot waste water. One way or another you put it back from where it came.

If you're water table is that high, pumping it is likely like spitting in the ocean because there's an endless supply down there. Imagine trying to lower a lake with your pump. You'd see discharge and believe you were making progress, but not really. Lol.

It hasn't stopped in two years now, but it does keep my new trees watered and my pool full in the summer months. I can pump all the water out, but within 24 hours there is a good 200 gallons back in it.

Infinite water glitch in real life? You've struck gold with that natural water source if you are putting it to good use

You are absolutely correct !! I see it that way now, but I didn't at first. Now that I have a handle on it and realize it's drinkable, safe to put back in the pool, and water my arborvitaes with I wouldn't want it any other way. I have the only usable well in town
