I have been operating my pool for a year now and was wondering if I should completely drain and refill it sometime? The chemical levels are good and it's clean, but just curious how long it should be left before replacing all the water
Only reason to drain and refill is if you let the CYA and/or CH get too high, or if you have extensive algae and it is cheaper to replace the water versus buying the bleach necessary to kill the algae.
Hey McCurdy !!! If the chemicals you added were on the reccomended list, and everything was kept in range, you never need to drain.
Some folks have high CH fill water and eventually need to drain because it's beyond their control raising the CH over time.
It's why we reccomemd liquid chlorine because tabs and powdered shock will raise your CYA/CH with each dose, eventually becoming unmanagable. (Usually sooner than later).
