For safety reasons especially don't forget to replace the cover. If the original is not the new standard safety cover for safety I would put one in especially if children will be using the pool. When I did an acid wash in my pool way back I forgot to replace the drain cover and didn't replace it for a while. Some small rocks got in the drain and took a whole summer to dislodge them. They didn't totally close off the drain but enough to cause concern. Worst case scenario they could have caused cracking in the pipe under the right [sic] circumstances.
