How much water from hose would cause an issue (iron)

We have well water. I try not to fill my pool with the hose because I do believe we have some iron in our water (our toilet does get staining if not cleaned regularly). I have always counted on the rain to keep my pool at an optimal level but it has been super hot and dry here in NJ and the water level is getting low. Hubby threw the hose in the pool and brought the level up maybe 1/4 of an inch. Am I going to have issues with iron staining? It seems like so little water compared to how much is in the pool but I am annoyed I am going to have problems now. I need to get a filter if he is going to fill from the hose.

It should turn the pool water green/brown before staining. Put polyfill in the skimmer after adding water and see if you pick up any iron. The polyfill will turn orange/brown.
