How many inlets and returns do I need? Intex 22’

Hey everyone, I have an intex 22x52 that I got the intex 2650gph pump/sand filter for. I was going to install the hayward skimmer. I am wondering if it is ok to have that as my only inlet or do I need to use one of the originals as well (originally had 2 inlets). As for the return the one that came with the pool is 1.5” all ththe way through and they return that came with the new intex pump reduces down to about 3/4” I would say they call it the new hydro aeration fitting. Other options would be use the Hayward return that is also a 3/4” jet which would be ideal because I can connect directly to pvc. Or I can upgrade to a Hayward 1” jet return. Just not sure what fittings to use or if I need to add any additional fittings. I am afraid that 3/4” jet is a large bottle neck in the system and would make the pressure jump way up but they must have designed it that way for a reason. Thanks for any help

I have a second inlet aside from my skimmer, so that if something goes wacky with the skimmer, I still have water flow to my pump.

Yes, a single return. I leave my Intex auto cleaner attached all the time, so I just have the regular 1.5 inch threaded return.
