How long to wait after start-up before we can use heater

Hello, we just built a new pool two weeks ago. We have a 400k BTU Pentair heater for our almost 22k gallon pool. I've read that we should wait to use the heater, but how long should we wait? We have quartz plaster finish on our pool.

Thanks for any feedback!

Is it to not use the heater at all? Would it make a difference if we set it to a lower temp like 80 vs going up high? We don't have a spa... looking at our spring break weather next week and it looks like it's in 60's and low 70's!

Did your pool builder say anything about using your pool cleaner too? Some pool builders warn not to use cleaners for a month if they have rolling wheels while plaster is new to avoid marring the new plaster.

Yip :flower:

Ok we'll wait to use it then. Is it b/c the plaster is still soft and curing? Just curious. And yes, we were told to wait on running the vacuum, but said just a couple of weeks for that.

Our start-up tech turned off our pumps during the acid start up, so hopefully none of the equipment was affected.

Just depends on how they did the acid start up. Your pool heater should never have been plumbed into the system unless they had a bypass setup to prevent the water from going thru it until the water was stabilized.
