how is 1-3ppm Chlorine in salt less than 1-3ppm in typical pool.

I am in the process of switching my pool from standard Chlorine to saltwater with a saltwater system chlorinator.

I was told that saltwater pools use less chlorine than plain chlorinated pools.

But now that I have a test kit, it says to make sure the pool is still at the 1-3ppm for Chlorine levels.

How is this any different?
Isn't 1-3ppm chlorine still the same amount?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it sure looks like the pool at the end of the day will have the same amount
but only changing the way the pool gets chlorine. (tablets vs chlorine generator).

your salt water generator simply takes the place of adding chlorine from a jug or adding tabs. The salt creates a chemical reaction on the plates of the salt cell which produces chlorine. The demand for chlorine is the same. The reason most use a SWG is for convenience.
