How do they kill algea in commerical pools

Curious, our neighborhood pool was cloudy and they said the clorine level was low so they closed it. I don't use it just saw people asking our on facebook page.
But got me wondering, what do they do, they can't shut it down for a few days and do a slam.

Public pools have to close it until they are clean again. Usually if they can't shock it clean within a day most of them drain and refill. A lot of public pools use dry chlorine so they generally need a drain and refill to drop the CYA levels anyway.

Common in my parts for non chlorine shock to be used once any cloudy or dullness is apparent. It allows them to open sooner.

What is a non chlorine shock?

Potasium peroximonosulfate LPS brand is Fresh and Clear. It will mess with your CC test readings. It oxidizes but will not sanitize the water.
