How do most check pH?

I'm using the K-1000 kit that comes with the TF-100 for pH.
However there is a lot of room between the pH points, and I don't have enough experience to extrapolate the colors between, for instance, 7.2 and 7.5.
Do many of you buy the more granular pH Box from Taylor, which jumps only 0.2 between colors?
And - I haven't seen that more granular box for sale by itself - I think it only goes with a kit that's about $75.
Thanks!
Justin

Hold it out at arm's length with a white background. I use a plastic chair for that. Then squint at it so it gets fuzzy. I have no trouble deciding if the in-between color looks more like 7.2 or like 7.5, which gives me 7.3 or 7.4.

Another tip: try using 4 drops. Sometimes the color is too bold. A little paler makes it easier to match with the samples.
