Houston Build - Progress!

Go the the link in my siggy below. MUST have is the TF-100 test kit. Need to have is the whale brush. Your shoulders and back will thank me. Want to have is the Speed Stir. I did not have one for the longest time and now wonder how I went without it! If you are going to have a SWG you need a salt test kit.

Thanks Kim. No SWG for me at this time. I've gone through and read others posts. You mentioned something about a manual vacuum. Can you provide a link to one? All I can think of is a Dyson lol.

With you having a brand new pool you don't need the XL option but it will not hurt anything to have it. You will not run out regents that is for sure! You do want everything else for sure!

Manual vacuum-a simple vacuum head like this: Swimline Hydrotools 8130 Swimming Pool Butterfly Weighted Vacuum Head Cleaner - Walmart.com and a hose long enough to reach to each end of the pool and across. You will also need a skimmer plate like this: Amazon.com : HydroTools by Swimline Oly Replacement Elbow & Plate Low Profile Skimmer Vac Adaptor, White : Swimming Pool Skimmers : Gateway BUT make sure to try to get it local so you can measure it to make sure it fits your skimmer. Lowes, Home Depot, and pool stores should have them.

It will take some learning to figure out how to get it primed and working but once you do it will work good for quick clean ups and such.

For everyday cleaning NOTHING beats a good robot though!!

Thanks! XL ordered. Builder says possibility of plastering on Friday. With rain the next few days, I'm skeptical but hopeful!

OK - Question. After plaster, can any work on the pool be done? I'm supposed to get plaster on Friday (stonescape) and they still have to button up both the electrical and plumbing. The lines have been capped and pressurized but we have to hook up the chorlinator and heat pump still along with the rock wall. What happens if they plaster and we don't have anything working yet? Will that potentially cause issues? I'm getting frustrated by some of the things my builder is doing but not sure if it's me not knowing the process or him not getting his guys out to wrap stuff up.

Also, it rained on Monday and there is still water in the pool. If they pump out the water tomorrow (Thursday) will that be sufficient for plaster on Friday? Oh, they are still supposed to acid wash the moss rock and flagstone. Can this occur after plaster / fill?

Frustrated.

It will PUSH the pH down and hard so.........might not be the best idea either!!! To me the plaster should be done LAST! Best to be on the safe side!

Lock your gates and have someone tell you if they show up to do any plaster work!! Nope, nope, nope on the plaster yet!

I can hear it now "A lady on the internet told me to have the plaster done last!" "What is that??" "Well yes she was sitting on her cough with a kitty beside her." LOL BUT it only makes sense if you think with logic so SPOCK says to do it my way! :devilish:

So builder had massive crews out and about over the last few days. Equipment hooked up and ready to turn on. Pool plastered and now filling up. Here are some pictures of the pool colors.

SO pretty!!! I really love that color!!!

Now know there might be a slight green tint. That is very normal. The true color will come out as the water is balanced and the plaster cures.

I have the purrfect place for you to show off your plaster! Pool Finish and Color Viewing Room...TFP Member Sound Off Take a pic looking down at the steps and down at the deep end. This helps show how the color looks at different depths.

I'll definitely post pictures on that thread but think it would be more helpful if I take them after the water is cleared up.
