Good Afternoon, My AWESOME dad gave me his 2 year old Lifesmart LS200DX Key Largo a week ago. It's a simple 120v plug and play 4 person (small people) 220 Gal tub, but very nice. I think it is is fiberglass.

I have never owned one so he gave me a crash course, Chemicals and said its about the same as a pool with a few differences (he has owned both, but didn't use the BBB/TFP method). The chemicals are in a box waiting to be properly dispose of, with the exception of the Stabilizer (CYA), Thought I might need it.

Getting a hot tub without any knowledge immediately led me here. I have read the awesome write up by Nitro and a few others and decided to run my Hot Tub this way. Section of the write up said to use Dichlor to sanitize and bring CYA up to 20 - 50 (acceptable), then switch to bleach. The Stabilizer I have (pic) states Prinicipal function agent CYA 100% .

My questions are: Is this stuff worth keeping? Can I fill Hot Tub and bring CYA to 20-30 semi quickly and than immediately begin using bleach? if not, recommendation on Dichlor?

I have checked my fill water a couple times in the last month. All pretty close I think. I did run temp power, filled, cleaned and drained HT. Just for practiced I did balance the water before draining. With the exception of TA my fill water is pretty close.

FC .5 .5 (extra FAS powder needed)

THANKS

Yes, you can add pure CYA to raise the CYA to 30 right off the bat and start using bleach immediately.

The reason for dichlor being used in the post is that it's easier to get ahold of CYA than it is dichlor. Dichlor also dissolves very quickly. CYA will dissolve slower (perhaps days). But either one will get the job done.
