We had a couple of really hot days here in Northern California, and I think it must have expanded the pipes a bit which created a new leak in my Hot Tub.
Over the weekend I took off the panels and tried to find where it was leaking. From what I could tell it was all the way on the bottom under the foam, right where the bottom drain hose hose attaches - in order to fix that at first would require emptying the tub and tipping it up on end and replacing the drain grate fitting. I think the washer down there has degraded over time a bit, and or the fitting needs to be tightened?
I was kind of dreading doing the fix and was contemplating waiting a few weeks for my next scheduled water exchange to do the repair - figured I could just top up the water and let it leak an inch or two a day...
Doing a search here I saw that a few people had some success with the liquid "Fix A Leak" potion and decided I didn't have much to lose, so I might as well buy a small bottle and give it a try. I am always sceptical about magic potions
Yesterday I took the filter out and I dumped 1/3 of the bottle into my small tub - the instructions talk about keeping it moving around the tub water as much as possible by brushing etc. However, since I already suspected the leak was at the deepest part of the tub I was fine with the stuff settling there and hopefully fixing the leak.
I came home later in the day to a completely dry concrete pad around the tub - so it appears that the leak is already fixed. I was impressed, and a little shocked, it worked so fast. Maybe since my leak was at the bottom of the tub it made it easier for the stuff to seal that area vs. a leak higher up on a jet body or light housing.
I thought I would pass along my use of it - I am going the leave it in the tub for another day or so, and then filter it out and hope it is a permanent fix.
