Hope to get some help now with my little hot tub project. I got a 2001 Hot Springs Sovereign I that was problematic to the previous owner. It suffered from a no heat issue, and when it was diagnosed as a board issue was left to sit for a couple years. I got it and found the typical heater relay board with a burnt relay. I purchased the new style two relay board, and installed it. My next step was to fill it with water to see if there are any leaks.. and there were.. So I then spent the winter in my garage (where I have the tub sitting for now) digging out foam and fixing the broken fittings.. Fast forward to now.. with the leaks fixed I filled it again (Oh, BTW, when I filled it the first time I had yet to run the electric out to the garage) and powered up the spa. The circulator pump came on, and the control panel looked good. I then followed the air purge instructions on the manual and cycled the jets... everything seemed great! But.. to my dismay the heat is still not working.. I opened the control box and saw on the relay board that the green LED is lit solid but the red LED is flashing. Reading more I see that flashing means that there is a problem with the heater, sensors, or the board itself. Since the board is less than a year old and hasn't had power until now I started testing everything. First is voltage... I am getting 240 to the sub-panel on a 50amp circuit. Next I tested the power in leads on the board. The 20amp circuit is feeding 120v and the 30amp circuit is feeding 240v as they are supposed to. I also checked that the GFI breakers are wired properly and function as they are supposed to do, and they do. I double checked the wire connections from the breakers to the board to make sure I had connected them to the correct terminals. I then checked the terminals for power to the heater, and nothing. No voltage reading (not surprised since the LED is flashing). I tested the heater for resistance, and it tested good. I then took the readings for the temperature thermistor and limit thermistor sensors. Both showed a reading of 13.31 and 13.17 respectively on the 20k OHM setting. This is normal for the ambient temperature of the water sitting in the tub.
So, thanks for reading through the book... My questions are.... are there other things I should be testing? Does this mean my "new" board is bad? Is there a way to test the board itself?
