Hoses connected to intex plunger valve leaking

Just installed new intex 18x52 ultra frame dual valve pool. Cannot get the two hoses which are attached to plunger valve to stop leaking. They are pushed in and then tightened with metal thumb rings. Any suggestions? Please speak for dummies. I am totally new!!! I am including a photo. TIA

By "thumb ring" do you mean something like this?

I can never get those tight enough using my fingers. You can try to tighten them by using a pair of pliers but don't over do it so you don't crack the barbs.

I actually looked again. It has a screw which we tightened. So what you sent looks the same except you tighten by screw and not by hand.

Can't really see them that well with the size of pic you posted. What are the zip ties for? Can you not seat the hoses better on the valve (get them over the larger diameter part)?

We thought zip ties would make them tighter. That didn’t work. Sending another photo. Are you suggesting that we put the metal rings where I put the green arrow?

I would try it. I assume that valve is like this? Those o-rings should stop any leaks.

Can you tell through the hose plastic if the O-rings are still seated correctly? Are the hoses deformed at the end? If it's not smooth, it won't seal

Yes they are all correct and not deformed. We were really careful.
