Hope my wife doesn't see this

Hi. I've been following this site for a few years now, but this is my first post.
I just opened my pool today and found these unsightly creatures on the bottom. I scooped out at least a dozen of them, and I don't know how many more are there.. Does any one have a clue as to what they are? They are about an inch to an inch and a half long, and aren't moving. The pool has been covered all winter, and the water was clean when I opened it.

without a doubt in my mind, thats a salamander larvae. Very cool!
the little black dot is his eye, and that thing that sort of looks like a bump is his gill buds.

Looks like a slug to me. Trust me dw would go crazy if she saw that in our pool.
