I am a new above ground pool user. We had the pool last fall, but only used it for a month before it got too cold. It was doing well thus season, but my boys wanted to try out some fishing float tubes that were given to them used. This introduced brown algae, and no matter what I tried I couldn't fix the problem. I probably used 12 or more shock treatments over a few weeks. Still looked gross. I finally found TFP. I've followed the chemical balancing process, and have finally got it looking pretty good. I needed to raise the pH and decided to aerate with what I could find at home. I used the pool vacuum hose and attached it to my shop vac, then turned the shop vac to blow. It is working wonderfully. In an hour it brought my pH from 6.8 to 7.2! I was spending so much money buying chemicals, and now I'm confident that I can have a beautiful pool without all that!
