The pool company just completed the plumbing to my new pool. However, i am concerned with one spot the plumbers chiseled out and created a large hole. The builder said it would be filled with plaster, but I would think that wouldn't be sufficient.
Almost all the gunite pools I have seen being built had a hole or two in the bottom, just to make sure the shell did not float. Filling with plaster is a pretty standard way to do it...
There will be plenty of things to worry about, but that is not one of them...
