Hole in 2 month old liner

We decided in early June to put in a pool. Seemed like a fine idea at the time, but it has been one thing after another to get it in and get the deck built. We finally got all that accomplished and it is beautiful. Last week however, we started noticing a dramatic water loss. We finally found a pretty good size hole about the size of a pencil eraser. How it got there, I have no idea at all!
We needed to stop the leak right then, so a pool guy we know said to use flex tape. Well I was skeptical, but dog on if it didn’t work and has been holding for four days. It’s clear but it actually cured kind of opaque and I hate it.
Can you glue an actual piece of liner over that, or would there be some kind of reaction between the two types of glue.
The other question I have is, where would I be able to purchase a few pieces of scrap of my liner pattern?

You know, I thought the chemistry would be my biggest problem, but I have had crystal water that tests perfect, since day one. Even the pool guy was impressed, so thank you all for that!
