How effective are pumps at managing a high water table?

My brother in law recently moved into his house, and after opening the pool this year found the liner floated and was dealing with a higher water table.

Previous owners said they typically ran the pump for a while and the issue would go away.

Currently having liner replaced and seeing rust on walls inside pool. Estimated age of pool is around 20 yrs.

Any good options out there to manage?

What pump are they speaking about? Most areas with higher water tables have well points installed that either naturally drain or you install a sump pump to remove the water.

It seems they were talking about the standard pool pump. I'm thinking their statement of "it went away after running the pump" was more-so happenstance from the water table lowering itself and the pool liner resetting itself naturally. When replacing liner they noticed there was no well point, and they are actually in the process of getting a sump / well installed to eliminate this issue moving forward, so all should be good now moving forward.

Appreciate your help!
