High Pressure what to do?

Was cleaning the pool today and went to empty the pump basket since it was a particularly heavy clean up and the pressure gauge is pretty high (40 psi). I turned everything off. Ran a backwash and rinse, still high.

I've turned everything off. Is this the best solution until I can get someone here tomorrow to look at it? I have a Hayward Vari-Flow XL valve on a Hayward pro series high rate sand filter model s244T salt water pool. 23,000 gallons.

High pressure is caused by either a restriction in your filter or in your plumbing between the filter and pump.

Take a look at the multiport valve and be sure it is set properly and nothing is plugging.

Does the gauge go back to zero when you turn the pump off (40psi is so high, most pumps won't pump anything against that pressure)?

May have been too much debris and you completely clogged your filter. 40 psi is virtually stopped up,

Might be time for a deep clean or sand replacement if the guage works and goes to zero when off
