How high can FC be? Can I keep adding liquid to ensure the algae is killed off? I added two gallons last week. It was a Green Swamp two weeks ago and the SLAM it sort of under control.

It has been a wild spring here due to a series of medical issues that caused me to
opened the pool late. While opening the darn pool I tightened the PVC too much. I cracked the PVC male part screwing into the Haywood multiport. Hand tight apparently is relative. That fix was an experience -a 6 hour experience. The fun continued because while fixing the " in port" I must have leaned on the PVC return that comes out of the multiport head, because it sprung a leak. UGH!!!!!
Admittedly, due to the issues stated above, I rushed thru the reading of how to SLAM but I think I got it going and 90% complete before the leak became a gush of trouble. Yesterday I successfully repeated and completed a careful hacksaw removal of the PVC threaded part without messing up the threads that go into the multiport. I installed new piping and gave it a night to think about all the pain it caused me. Today it worked great. No leak.

So back to the Algae fight:
There is still a green fog here and there. Particularly when I brush the bottom corners of the deep end for example. My FC is high and no real issue , I'm swimming laps... I want to put in more liquid chlorine just to kill any of the Algae demons still hiding and waiting to reboot.
PH 6.8
FC 10+
Alk 60
CYA 40
Can I keep added liquid? The Free Cholrine does not go down.

Are you testing with one of the two test kits TFP endorses? You cant follow the SLAM process without one of them.

I have one you guys recommended
Do not use the OTO chlorine test that uses the comparator block. You need to be using the FAS-DPD test that came in the kit. With this test, you can know actual FC levels which are critical for SLAM. Right now you're guessing.

Thanks guys.... But Powder? I think I have the 2005 kit.
Follow the SLAM Process. Read the article
I will read the SLAM info throughly.
I think I also have to read the instructions for the tester as well. Powder?
I just did the the test again. No powder?

FC 10+
Ph7
alk 80 whioch went up?
( Think I messed these up a bit. )
Hardness 6-8
CyA 1.8 ?

You can’t do the SLAM with a K2005. You can get a K1515 kit which adds the more accurate FAS-DPD test for chlorine to make your kit a K2006. The test results you’re showing dont match what the K2005 kit does so there must be some test error. Maybe you can post a picture of the test result and we can advise? Theres also some videos on how to do each test.

Don't give up now; get the proper FAS-DPD kit or you'll be repeating SLAM Process before you know it.
It's imperative to have accurate testing, and to follow procedures to avoid extra expense and time.
An Overnight Chlorine Loss Test is the only way to know if you're truly done and you cannot do that without a FAS-DPD test.
