Searched the forums and didn't really find what I was looking for so I'm posting another.

Currently SLAMming due to a bunch of rain and wind and cold spells here in Kansas. Numbers are right on, PH 7.5, TA 90, CH 30 (I have a vinyl inground so not really important), CYA 40, right at 70 degrees.

My issue is my FC. Right now I'm at 17.5 since I'm in a SLAM. I need to backwash so I can get this cloudiness cleared up. What's the consensus on grass? Think a FC level that high will kill a patch?

As usual, thanks in advance. This website and forum is the absolute peak of badassery.

I would buy the cheap roll up type backwash hose and backwash to an area without the nice grass. Some grass types can take an occasional chlorine bath without issues, but a high fc backwash with dry weather or sun will probably burn the grass.

Cool, thanks. Unfortunately I don't really have a patch of bad grass here. It's all pretty manicured fescue sod, redone from when the pool was installed. Only other option would be to backwash to my driveway and into the street drainage, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal here. Everything drains to the Arkansas River here in Wichita.

I directed my backwash toward my large trees. I never had any problems with the San Augustine grass and high chlorine. Do you currently have anything growing in the raised beds in the back of the yard? That may be another spot to try.

Not a bad idea. Will need a longer backwash hose but no, there's nothing in those beds. Used to have a garden, but next step is to tear those out and put in a shed / pool house.

Thanks.
