According to Leslie's I have very high cyanuric acid levels in my pool. They suggested (according to who I talked to) draining one-third of the pool water or draining the pool water one foot. I'm not sure what caused the problem in the first place.

If you use tablets to chlorinate that would be the cause of high CYA. It constantly introduces chlorine and CYA in to the water, the chlorine is consumed and the CYA stays. It's the primary reason we don't recommend using it consistently and instead prefer non-stabilized chlorine options such as liquid or saltwater chlorine generators.

However, we don't trust pool store water testing at all. Very unreliable, the CYA test especially so. As such I wouldn't make any decisions until you run your own tests to confirm the results. Do you have your own test kit you can test with?
