Welcome to TFP.
If your CYA is 120 and you want it to be 60 then drain half the pool volume.
If your CYA is 150 and you want it to be 50, then drain 2/3 the pool volume.
Plain tap water does not contain CYA so you just refill the pool the proper level.
You should test your pool water to ensure where your CYA is.
