I suggest that you go outside and plant a sign in your front yard that says "Algae Party this weekend!!!

With an CYA of 98 (100 actually) and a ridiculous low FC of 1.. You have a real issue..

Your CYA and FC have to be kept in relation with one another.. See this chart... FC/CYA Levels

The only way to reduce your CYA is to drain some of your pool water..

Sorry...am a total pool noob, but I gotta ask.... Why can't one just wait out a moderately high CYA? Won't it lower itself in short order?

Welcome to TFP! Unfortunately no, CYA doesn't fall quickly on its own. It may degrade by 3-5 ppm a month, but not much more. Water exchange is generally the best way to see an immediate reduction in CYA.

The other issue, if you're using tablets, is that the tablets will continue to add CYA to the pool, so the level will only go up.
