High CYA and SLAM

Fighting some algae, green water, and cloudy water.

I didn't take my PH or CYA before starting a SLAM but I think I'm fighting a losing battle.

FC: 16
ph: 7.4 (if it's reliable)
Cya: over 100 (test kit only goes to 100)

With a CYA above 100 is it even worth trying to battle algae outbreak? Can I get FC high enough to even begin sanitizing the water?

I'm not able to get R-0012 to turn the test sample blue. It turns clear at about 30 drops but I feel that I'm wasting trying to get it blue

Water supply that I use to fill the pool shows 250 ch.

Dilute your pool sample 1:1 with distilled water.
Use 10 ml of that mixture to perform the test.

Likely your CH is very high. If so, time to drain and start over.

Unless you use softened water for make up water, you will have to drain and refill every couple years.

Your source water is from the Colorado River. It is what it is. Mine is the same. I live a 1/4 mile from the river. But I use softened water for make up water due to evaporation.
Do you have a whole house water softener?
