We paid a huge amount to open our green pool. They said it was done after a week or so but it was not crystal clear. Within 2 days algae turned pool green and we shocked it and cleaned a very green cartridge filter Returned to company and water test read 141 for CYA.No one said this was a problem but in reading I thinkit is a big problem My pool water kit reads 120 now.Poolmath said to empty 1/3 of the water and replace and then shock it according to new CYA We have no pump to empty water Is my understanding correct or what is best treatment?:(

Yes, also depending how you are testing. Pool stores and test strips are not accurate, especially with CYA. If your CYA is over 100 then yes, it is time to drain some water to get it down to go 30-50.

This is how we kill algae, SLAM Process
