First time pool owner, recent widow, decided a summer of floating will heal my soul. I am in charge of the water. My pool has been up and clear for a month but it's gone cloudy! So.. I did let my niece's golden retriever in the pool. I have been cleaning it ever since. Not even sure this is the issue, children were running wild.. I have cleaned manually, with net and vaccuum, changing filter, running pump constantly. My pool gets a lot of full on hot hot sun. idk how this affects my efforts.

15k gal above ground pool
Day 1, shocked (I had shocked 2 days prior, also)
Day 2, added 2 or 3 lbs of baking soda
Day 3, added pool clarifier- was supposed to put in 48 oz but mis calculated and put in 52 oz.
(filter has been changed 3 times per day and I am spraying them out)

I am getting a fountain, should be delivered today. My water is very warm and I am hoping this will help with that.

Any tips appreciated, otherwise I will be browsing around in here for answers.

Welcome to TFP! Sorry it has to be under such circumstance 🙏 , but we'll help you along from here.

First step - accurate water testing with a reliable test kit. If you don't have a TF-100, TF-Pro Series, r Taylor K-2006C test kit, please make that priority #1. Everything we coach and what you do at home relies on accurate testing, and you won't get that from the pool store or test strips.

Second thing, no more crazy pool store chemicals, No clarifiers, floc, or algaecides. ONLY liquid chlorine. Add one gallon of liquid chlorine each day until you receive one of those kits and we'll help yo from there.

Thank you! I have been reading a lot, and have assimilated some information into my brain.. I was somehow thinking I should do liquid chlorine. Thanks for the confirmation! I will continue to study :)
