New pool owner here! We are in deep north east Texas.
I have really enjoyed reading the forums. I can proudly proclaim that I now know just enough to be dangerous.
The previous owner described his pool maintenance as putting 3-4 chlorine pucks in a spot by the pump and whenever it runs out, add more. He bought the house with the pool and said that’s what the previous owner did as well. He didn’t know how many gallons the pool is. He said it stays crystal clear that way and he hated to change anything and risk messing something up.
It doesn’t have a liner so I’m guessing that means it’s gunnite or plaster? It has a slide and bubblers on the ledge. We keep the water on the slide going constantly until sometimes it goes off and the little pool cleaner comes on. I think the filter must be set to 24/7 as I never hear it go off.
It has a remote control that is beyond confusing to me. I’d love to know how to work it.
My plan is to buy the Taylor test kit and see where we are. I think there’s a commercial one? Does that one have everything I need?
I’d love to be able to follow the TFP method, but first I need to figure out how to math out how many gallons it is.
