We have an inground 22,500 gallon pool, we had a big party about 2 weeks ago . Before the party the water was clear blue and beautiful. A few days after the party it started turning green. We took a sample to our local pool store, they said 6 bags of shock, so we put it in let it cycle, vacuumed it, it was still cloudy, ran the pump a few days leaving the cover off so to burn off excess chlorine. A week later still cloudy, pool store suggested super flock, 2 bottles, so we did as instructed, applied the super flock through the skimmer with pump on recirculation for 3 hours, turned off pump for 8 then slowly hand vacuumed the pool on waste. We have done this process 4 times and cannot get the flock out. What can we do to get it out, what are we doing wrong. In the mean time our pool has now turned a lovely shade of dark green
We are at wits end. Oh by the way we went back to the pool store and told them, they told us to use burn out, we did that, but that requires using the filter. Ugh please help

Welcome to TFP! You have algae and no amount of floc, clarifier, or mechanical filtering will kill the algae. For that you need to follow the SLAM Process. Review that article and let us know if you have any questions about the process.

PS - Avoid the pool store. They are steering you down the wrong (expensive) path with no results. :brickwall:

Should I tackle the flock left in the bottom of my pool or the algae first?
