Help with Mysterious Film Above Waterline Damaging Liner Print

Last year we started noticing a stubborn "film" developing just above the waterline of our pool, especially in the corners. It was very difficult to remove. After opening and cleaning the pool this season, we saw the affected area had spread further.

The biggest concern: when we try to clean it using a microfiber rag and just pool water, it actually removes the printed design from the liner itself. Has anyone experienced this or have any insight into what might be causing it and how to safely resolve it?

Appreciate any help or advice—thanks in advance!

None of these parameters look particularly suspicious as cause for your issue- aside from that they appear to be pool store tests which can be suspect and unreliable. We do recommend that you test your own pool water with either a Taylor k2006c salt or tf100/pro salt

This is generally not necessary in an outdoor pool and has no sanitation properties. It is simply an oxidizer. While Chlorine is both an oxidizer and sanitizer.
Not sure if it may have been a factor in your issue but It can also be quite harsh for people. It contains sulfates which can build up and harm your swcg and your heater if you have one. It can also show up as cc’s when testing unless an interference reagent is used.
For all these reasons mps (non chlorine shock) is not recommended for use in outdoor pools.

What product is this? Can you share a pic of the label or name of the product.
Prophylactic “shocks” are unnecessary in a properly maintained pool that always has adequate sanitizer.

Nobody asked me, but imma blab about it anyway.

The definition of shock is a sudden, often violent change.

If you need to shock the pool, its because you didnt use enough chlorine in the first place. Ironically, everyone has no problems adding it in dump and pray mode to overcorrect, but they are super stingy in the first place. So just add it in the first dang place, on your terms, not the algae's. Especially with a SWG, you aren't even doing anything. Just set it a little higher than you need and everything will be hands off.
