Last year, we have had a few episodes of the pump humming instead of turning. We would need to punch it with a soft malet a couple of times so it would start. After reading a few post regarding humming pumps, we would like to change the "capacitor" but we have no clue as to where the part is in the pump or what the "capacitor" part number would be. I have attached the exploded drawing of the pump. Can anyone give me some pointers?

Saturday the pump was split open, wet side and dry side. Then the dry side back cover was opened. We were unable to open further so see pictures. No capacitor that we can identify. Could this pump have no capacitor? If so, what is the source of the humming and jamming?

Not seeing anything, we reassembled the pump to open the pool. We are 24 hours into the slamming process. Almost every third time that we need to stop and start the pump we have to knock the back cover a couple of times with a mallet to get it going.

Anyone have any suggestions?
