Decided to clean up pool after it being green for many months, just got my testing kit today and posting the results. Pool is 18,000 gallons and is plaster. Following the SLAM method I added 1 gallon of 12.5% sodium hypochlorite, will do another test in a few hours to see how that does. I've also bought cyanuric acid and put it in a sock that has been soaking in the skimmer since yesterday as I made the assumption that it would be low, as the results have shown. Im going to buy baking soda right now to add to the pool, or should I wait since I just added the chlorine? Any other tips and help is appreciated, thanks!

FC - 1 ppm
CC - 3 ppm
pH - 6.8
TA - 40 ppm
CYA - 0

Add 5 lbs of baking soda to raise TA to 60. Then continue the SLAM.

Your SLAM target is 16. With an FC of 1, you added a gallon, which would raise FC by ~7. You needed to add enough to get to FC of 16, which would have been over 2 gallons.

Are you using pool math? Link-->PoolMath
