A new service opened my pool today. My old one went out of business. I did a backwash and rinse and was going to clean the filter in front of the pump and these were in the basket. I knew my old service put them in there when they closed my pool last Oct. two are right side up and two are upside down. The service isn't answering.
Help! Where do these parts go?

Those look like return plugs to me. You sure that during opening today, someone didn't just pull those out of your returns jets when they put the eyeballs back in and dropped those in the pump basket?
Those are just winterizing plugs, place them in a safe spot for your next closing.
They could have. Probably. I remember that the pressure gauge was also in there before they came. Thank you! I was afraid it was something vital that needed to be there. I will put them in the pool tote with 100 other gadgets I have no idea what they are for. It's like no one ever disposes of anything no longer used.
Great! They didn't winterize anything with them, since I saw them in the basket before the opening service showed up. My pool is a gorgeous deep green. I've never seen it so bad. I will be vacuuming and cleaning tomorrow before the SLAM. I tested the water today and added 27 oz of CYA, in socks in the skimmers, 1 gallon and 2 cups bleach. Should I do the SLAM before adding the baking soda (12 pounds) and salt (280 pounds)? I have the SWG turned off until I can brush and vacuum .

Why are you wanting to add baking soda?
I don't see current test results in your PoolMath logs. Can you post current test results before adding baking soda or any other chemicals?
Might be best to wait on addi g salt until after the SLAM Process as you aren't going to be using the SWG until after your SLAM anyway.

TA 30 (pool math said to add 12 lbs baking soda)
CYA -20 (Could see it all the way to the top of tube) Took the test 3 times.
Salt (using a Taylor salt kit) is 1400
PH 6
I can't see the main drain. I will brush and clean today and start the SLAM tomorrow. I have to be gone 4 hours today.

Are you sure about that pH? That's extremely low. You might double-check. Sounds like you do need to start the SLAM Process, but you want that pH closer to 7.0 (orange). If it is that low, you can add some Borax to help increase it and the TA a bit. If you already added baking soda, test the water again in a couple hours to see what TA you reached. You can also use aeration to help raise the pH, but post back in a couple hours with your new TA so we can confirm what to do about the pH.
You already know the CTA will need to be increased a bit to at least 30. Even if you hit 40 it's not that bad. SLAM level of 16 or 12 depending on which CYA you reach.
By the way, you don't have any tabs/pucks in the pool do you? If so, remove them ASAP.
