Don't do anything. It is a safety cover, it does not do anything to protect your pool parts. It will be time to order up another next summer. Keep your old one to use as a pattern for when you order your next. I never touch mine in the winter as the snow and ice should not harm it. My water level is down below the returns about 4 or 5 inches. Never had a problem.
