Help selecting New Pump

We currently have a Hayward Super Pump 2HP (SP2615X20). We think it's over 15+ years old and is making very loud noises which we believe are the bearings. We are looking to replace because of the age. We have added a SWG and a heat pump in the past few years and I think that may increase our need for the pump.

We did a TDH test with gauges and got a TDH of 83.

We were looking at a Hayward pump replacement: MaxFlo VS, SuperPump VS of Tristar VS. Our existing plumbing is 1.5" if that makes a difference. Any suggestions?

Install a Nidec NPTT 27 motor with a Hayward Super Pump GO Kit (GO KIT 3) for half the cost of a new pump if all else is good. You will then have a variable-speed Super Pump.

As that motor has its own control, you will have to be sure the booster pump for your cleaner is set to run at a time when the main pump is running at a high enough speed to keep it full of water.

Thank you, 1poolman1!

Would you recommend also replacing the impeller? I see that there are a range of impellers based on HP. Since we would be going from a 2HP motor to 2.7HP VS motor, would the 2.5HP impeller be good to move to as well or would the current impeller work fine? Thanks

It looks like I should upgrade the impeller, diffuser and seal plate due to the higher HP

That motor is actually listed as a .75 - 2.7 total-horsepower motor. A larger THP motor on a smaller impeller doesn't hurt anything. The benefit of increasing the size of the impeller is that you could run it even slower to move the same amount of water as the smaller one, thus saving a bit more energy (money). That 2.5hp impeller is listed by Hayward (based on the Super Pump rating-plate numbers) as a 2.5THP impeller, so it would work well.
