Help.. pump basket full of churning water/air

Last night at 12am I heard a different sound and noticed my pressure gage at 15 and it's normally at 28. Shut it down, and today I took my off lid and checked gasket, it seems stretched, so it took a few minutes to install after cleaning and new lube.

Skimmers are working great and main drain too..

Could it be anything else ? I'm thinking I have a pump basket
lid issue as I can't figure anything else is wrong. Help ?

Thanks and hope your having a nice summer

EDIT: same gasket, should I change it ?

A mushy swollen O-ring points to petroleum-based lubricants, like vaseline or something, damaging the rubber. I'd change it if there's any doubt.

But don't neglect the obvious like low water level or a sticking skimmer weir. One day I stepped outside and heard the weirdest sound like a toilet flushing. It was low water in the pool. The skimmer well did look like a toilet flushing. And of course the pump was churning and noisy, too.

Hi,
I know everyone was on the edge of their seats waiting for results..

I changed the pump basket gasket last night and it still wouldn't prime so today I stuck a screw driver gently into the where the water is drawn ? and spun that gismo that spins (defuser) and its back to normal. I'm sure a service call would've been 200.00.

Thanks TFP
