I just bought a 21-foot round pool with 52 in depth it is not a saltwater pool and I'm wondering if I need to buy a chlorinator system or can i add the chemicals myself

You can chlorinate your pool without a salt generator by using liquid chlorine or regular bleach. Be sure to have a good test kit though like a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C. That's very important. See the link below for lots of important info to help get you started.
