Help!!No filtration or recirculation!

Complete newbie here and I desperately need help. I just hard piped my pump and filter. After 10 hours I allowed the pump and filter to fill and checked that it would hold water and there were no leaks and then I gave it a full 24 hours to cure before I tested it under pressure. When I turn the pump on water only goes to waste or backwash. When I position the multi valve on any setting I only get water pumping out of the waist. I get no recirculation and I get no filtration. What can I start checking? It is less than a year old and it worked beautifully before I started my hard pipe. Here is a picture of the finished product.IMG_0935.jpeg

You have plumbed the lines incorrectly. Looks like you plumbed the pump to the return to pool side, the waste line is plumbed to the input where "from pump' should be, and your return is plumbed to the waste output.

Wow 🤦🏻‍♀️ I just went out and looked…. I sure as heck did😬 I may be a newbie to this stuff, but has a rule I didn’t consider myself a complete idiot. I do now. What a freaking rookie mistake. Reading, looking very carefully at the words printed would’ve helped me a lot. Thank you so much, for helping me with this. This actually is going to add quite a bit of work, but the alternative would’ve been much worse. What are the chances I can completely delete this post and we can just pretend this never happened.😵‍💫

We all do stupid things in life! The idea is to learn from those stupid things. Before I retired I repaired medical equipment and I heard a saying which is so true and I used it all the time - "The only difference between a crappy technician and a great technician is the great one saw the issue before and knows the problem!"

Also a FYI, I don't think I see any unions between the filter& pump and the filter & waste - you want to be able to break apart the filter/pump from everything for deep cleaning and maintenance. Much easier to do it now then when you need to do it. At least you don't have to worry about winterizing! :)

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the response. Also you are correct about the unions, I only put them on the return and skimmer side and I should also have them on the waste and pump side so I will do that when I start to fix this after work tomorrow. Any other suggestions or ideas?

I would use high temp unions on all connections into and out of the pump and filter. I wouldn't put unions in the lines. Call dohey's and ask what unions you need.

ensure you get proper fittings designed for pressure
Ensure you use schedule 40...

And I'd get rid of the PVC ball valves and use diverter valves.

When you are done, follow the SLAM process to clear the algae. Link-->SLAM Process
