I apologize up front for maybe asking some stupid questions. I have had someone maintain my pool for 8+ years and he now cannot do it, because of an emergency so I am scrambling to try to figure it out. I used to maintain it, but it has been a long time.
Inground 25,000 gal pool, chlorine, sand (replaced with glass) filter, 3 hp pump, concrete. We filled the pool mainly with well water at the beginning of the year and have an autofill from the well. It has been 100 degrees so I'm guessing it is filling a lot.
I have a ColorQ test kit, but I am guessing the drops are all bad. I went into the pool store because the test strips looked like I had high Alk and pH.
The pool was crystal clear on Monday and still today.
On Monday they said my Alkalinity was 280 and pH 8.2. FC .28 and TC 1.38, Hardness 253 and CYA 95, Iron 0.10, Copper 0.60, Phosphates 2434. They said to put in 4 gallons of Muriatic Acid 1 gal at a time and to double shock it.
On Wednesday (today) they said my Alkalinity was 234 and pH 7.4. FC 8.31 and TC 8.31, Hardness 271 and CYA 93, Iron 0.00, Copper 0.70, Phosphates 2350. They said to put in 4 gallons of Muriatic Acid all at once with the pump off for 4 hours.
Any recommendations? I have not added the other 4 gals of Acid. I ordered new drops for my ColorQ test kit that will be here in the next 2 days.
